Captain Fred Lawler Passed away on April 3, 2017. Captain Lawler served with VA-106 from 1961 to 1964. He joined the Navy in 1951 and completed the Naval Aviation Cadet Program in Pensacola, FL., where he was commissioned as a Naval Ensign/Aviator. He completed two tours in Vietnam, commanding Carrier Air Wing One onboard the USS John J. Kennedy in the early 70’s. He then had a tour in the Pentagon and was promoted to Captain. Later he served in Japan has the US Defense/Naval Attaché, followed by a similar position as Attache to New Zealand and the South Pacific. He retired in 1986. He will be missed but never forgotten by his shipmates. May he rest in peace.
 
Horinka, Richard "Dick"  Passed away at the age of 84 in Ormond Beach, Fl.  Richard served as an Airman with VF-62 from 1951-1954 and was an active member of our reunion Squadron. May Fair Winds and Following Seas be with you as you embark on the next leg of your eternal journey my friend.
