2024 REUNION
At our 2023 REUNION, a motion was made to disestablish the VA-106/VF-62 Gladiator Reunion Group. The motion passed 10 to 1. This
will end a 24 year run for the reunion group. The Squadron started in January of 1945 as VBF-17 and was disestablished in November
of 1969, this was also a 24 year run. The list of reasons to disestablish the VA-106/VF-62 Reunion Group are listed below.
1. Age has caught up to us all. 5. Room Rates are much higher.
2. Covid-19 makes travel harder. 6. Banquet dinners are much higher.
3. Hotels want a guaranteed number of rooms. 7. Hotel no longer Comp Hospitality Rooms.
4. Banquets must have a guaranteed numbers.
Therefore, this years reunion (2024) will be the
last reunion for our Reunion Group. The reunion will be held in Jacksonville Florida which is where our Squadron was based. There
will be no contract or banquet held for the 2024 reunion, however, here will be a hotel listed to make reservations.
We must
have a head count of 30 Gladiators by August 1st, 2024, (not including spouses or guests), in order to set up a Reunion.
If we get the 30 Gladiators, we will charter a bus to take attendees back to Cecil Field Naval Base from the hotel, where we will
hold a ceremony to bring our VA-106/VF-62 Gladiator Reunion Group to an end at the base chapel.
If we fail to achieve the 30
members then we will ask for volunteers to go to the Cecil Field Chapel to hold the ceremony to disestablish the VA-106/VF-62 Reunion
Group. Travel will be on their own, no bus will be rented.
The disestablishment ceremony will be held on Monday October
7, 2024 at 2:00pm
The NOTICE & Sign-Up Sheet must be sent in before August 1st.
